Major Events

The Humane Society of Greater Dayton offers three major fundraising events each year, generating much-needed funds to help further our mission of building loving relationships between people and pets.

Cat Walk

Created in 2007, Cat Walk is a "fur-ocious," claws-out competition for top area salons to design hair, makeup and costumes around a central theme, all benefiting the Humane Society of Greater Dayton. Dame Santana Gregory hosts this outrageous event, which includes food, dancing, entertainment and the always anticipated runway show. Approximately 800 guests attend this event each year.

Furry Skurry

Furry Skurry – the Humane Society of Greater Dayton's annual family-friendly 5k dog walk to raise much-needed funds for our programs and services – has been a fixture in the community since 1991. Attendees can form a team and compete for great prize incentives by registering on our website. Furry Skurry promises lots of fun, festivities and heart-healthy exercise for guests each year.

Pet Afflaire

Pet Afflaire is held at the Presidential Banquet Center every November. The Humane Society of Greater Dayton's annual black-tie "dinner with the dogs" hosts up to 500 humans, 250 dogs and a few very brave cats. A play date for owners and pets alike, this memorable event consists of dining, socializing and professional portraits. The evening begins with a reception followed by dinner, awards and a silent auction. This fun-filled event is our largest source of special-event income, allowing us to help animals requiring our assistance throughout the year.
